The Texas Freedom Coalition, a network of conservative advocates, made several requests to various sources for information pertaining to data collected regarding COVID-19 hospitalizations in the unvaccinated versus the vaccinated.

These requests followed several articles published throughout Texas and the nation proclaiming that Texas hospitals were rapidly reaching capacity with unvaccinated coronavirus patients and that it is now a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

Information received by TFC in response to the inquiry tells another story entirely.

Texas hospitals and Texas Public Health Agencies neither collect or report data related to Covid-19 hospitalizations in the vaccinated vs. the unvaccinated.

Although various hospitals, counties, and the state publish daily numbers regarding the amount of confirmed COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, they do not collect data regarding whether those hospitalized cases are vaccinated or not.

There is not a single factual, verifiable study or report that shows the vaccination status of hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

New York Times journalist Edgar Sandoval wrote back in August that “the vast majority of patients hospitalized in Texas are not vaccinated,” citing state officials.

Texas Freedom Coalition asked Sandoval about the sources for his statement. Sandoval said he used a “combination of sources.”

“State and county officials have said and continue to say this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” he said. “That is to say that most people dying or hospitalized have not received the vaccine.”

According to TFC:

Sandoval’s provided links to evidence that supposedly supported his reporting that Texas hospitals were being filled by unvaccinated patients did not include any vaccination rates within admitted Covid-19 patients in Texas hospitals.  That is because that specific data for Texas hospitalizations did not and—does not—exist.

Meanwhile, politicians and mainstream media have been fear-mongering in an effort to coerce citizens into receiving coronavirus vaccinations, but they do not actually possess the data necessary to prove their claims.

“Texas Freedom Coalition believes that Texans’ trust in public health institutions is eroded when unproven and/or unsubstantiated statements are made about the hospitalization rates of unvaccinated Texans,” said Texas Freedom Coalition. “Our responsive records have proven that Texas Public Health Agencies and Texas Hospital Systems are not collecting or reporting data on the vaccination status of individuals hospitalized in the State of Texas, and that, in fact, they don’t know what the numbers actually are. Personal narrative involves personal bias, and it does not serve as a replacement to factual data.”

As hospitals and corporations continue to ignore Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order prohibiting vaccine mandates in Texas, grassroots activists and lawmakers have called for a fourth special session to lawfully eliminate such mandates in the state.
