An anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protest went out of control as law enforcement used tear gas to disperse leftwing activists following a tense confrontation.
Billed as a “Solidarity with LA” event, the evening began with a conventional protest outside the Texas State Capitol. A motley crew gathered, with vulgar signs to hear a number of speakers detail the alleged connection between the U.S. immigration system and Israeli misdeeds.
The Austin protest was organized by the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
After approximately forty-five minutes, protestors marched down Congress Avenue, chanting a variety of vulgar slogans.

They ultimately arrived at the J.J. Pickle federal building, which protestors claimed houses an ICE detention facility. Protestors surrounded the building’s entrance for approximately twenty minutes, during which time they grew increasingly frenzied.
Law enforcement moved to clear the protest after protestors started vandalizing the building.
Officers moved down 7th Street to pressure protestors towards San Jacinto Street. Protestors responded with obscenities and at least one threw a rock at a female police officer.
Law enforcement officers moved the protest down a block. Another tense standoff followed, which was ultimately disbursed with tear gas when protestors resumed throwing things at police.
