Businessman Elon Musk announced he is relocating SpaceX headquarters to Texas due to California’s repeated legislative attacks on families and companies.
“This is the final straw,” Musk posted Tuesday on X. “Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.”
Musk’s announcement was prompted by California’s latest attack on family values.
On Monday, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed AB 1955 into law—which prohibits schools from notifying parents if a child believes they are a different gender than their biological sex.
Pro-family nonprofit organization California Family Council blasted the new law, saying that it violates the rights of parents.
“This bill undermines their fundamental role and places boys and girls in potential jeopardy,” said President Jonathan Keller. “Moms and dads have both a constitutional and divine mandate to guide and protect their kids, and AB 1955 egregiously violates this sacred trust.”
Musk subsequently announced that the headquarters of social media platform X—formerly called Twitter—will also be relocating to Texas. “The governor of California just signed a bill causing massive destruction of parental rights and putting children at risk for permanent damage,” he said.
These two companies will join Musk’s electric car company, Tesla, in Texas. Musk moved Tesla to Texas in 2021 after levying criticisms against California’s taxation and regulation policies. He also reportedly clashed with health professionals at the inception of the COVID-19 pandemic over reopening a factory in Fremont.
Now, Musk’s disapproval of California has only been magnified. “Have had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building,” he posted.
