One of the state’s leading instiutions of higher education, the University of Texas at Austin, is poised to increase its rate of wealth redistribution this coming academic year.

In a memo released in late April, UT Austin President Greg Fenves outlined the University’s new financial aid policy, which would guarantee a free education to students with family incomes under $30,000, with options to receive additional funds for purposes such as housing.

Furthermore, the university will now guarantee financial aid to any student whose family income is under $100,000 and can demonstrate any level of financial need. A scheme this far-reaching renders almost 80% of Texas households eligible for financial aid.

This announcement comes at the heels of a nationwide uproar towards a UT program that sought to define masculinity as a mental illness. The program, housed in the University’s Counseling and Mental Health Center, sought to hire highly-paid staff and appropriate funds for the purpose of indoctrinating its students into this leftist narrative.

Once again, UT is attempting to make college less affordable for students by raising tuition repeatedly and then proceeding to redistribute the funds to its preferred recipients.
