After the November 5 election, the Tarrant County Commissioners Court is welcoming two new commissioners.
One Republican and one Democrat will be replacing two commissioners, Roy Brooks and Gary Fickes, who chose not to run for reelection.
For Precinct 1, Democrat Roderick Miles Jr. beat Republican candidate Michael Barber, winning 58 percent of the vote while Barber won 43 percent.
The election for Precinct 3 was won by former State Rep. Matt Krause with 64 percent of the vote compared to his Democrat challenger Laura Leeman’s 36 percent.
Krause posted to X celebrating his win and asking for prayers as his work begins.
“We WON!!! Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign! A big thanks to Jennie and the kids for ALL of their help and support. Could not and would not do it without them. Also thanks to our volunteers, donors, prayer warriors, etc. All glory to God for this victory. Praise the Lord!” wrote Krause. “The real work begins now, so please keep the prayers coming. Can’t wait to represent Precinct 3 on the Commissioners’ Court come January. Thanks again!!!”
Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare also celebrated the win.
“Congrats @MattKrauseTX on your landslide win! Precinct 3 and all of Tarrant County will be blessed to have you in leadership,” wrote O’Hare. “Welcome to the team! @MannyRamirez_TX @tarrantgop @TexasGOP”
Both Krause and Miles Jr. will be sworn into office in January.
