Another round of elections is underway across Texas. Early voting in the June 16 local runoffs began today and continues through Tuesday, June 12.

About 20 local entities in and around the Metroplex have runoff races on the ballot. Voter turnout is expected to be even lower than in the May 5 local elections, which was generally less than ten percent.

Yet all Texas taxpayers will feel the impact of decisions made by just a handful of their neighbors, as officials elected to city councils and school boards largely determine the size of local residents’ property tax bills.

Below are runoff races in the region, by county. An asterisk denotes an incumbent. “TFR” indicates a candidate endorsed by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.
