Democrats claim to be champions of women’s empowerment, but they haven’t done nearly as much as President Trump to improve the lives of working women and mothers across America.

As a Texan mother who is also a senior advisor to the president’s re-election campaign, I have seen firsthand his commitment to helping women succeed in the workforce while having the option to be there for their families.

American moms, as usual, are picking up most of the slack from the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. We’re not just moms, of course—here in Texas, women account for nearly half of all workers, and almost 1 million women own their own businesses.

Before the artificial interruption of the strong and growing Trump economy by the coronavirus pandemic, the strong and growing Trump economy had produced the lowest female unemployment rate in nearly 70 years and given a tremendous boost to women entrepreneurs. President Trump’s pro-business and pro-worker policies helped millions of female-owned businesses thrive before the pandemic struck, and now he’s spearheading unprecedented levels of relief for workers and businesses alike in order to keep our economic foundation strong in preparation for the coming recovery.

That relief is crucial for the long-term health of our economy, but it’s just as important for its short-term benefits for individuals and families facing financial uncertainty.

It’s hard enough to raise—and educate—kids while working a full-time job from home during this crisis. No American should have to worry about basic finances on top of everything else right now, which is why the relief package President Trump signed into law included emergency unemployment benefits worth an extra $600 per week in addition to the one-time individual payments of $1,200 per adult, providing up to $3,400 for a typical family of four.

While Democrats such as New York Governor Andrew Cuomo scoff at Americans worried about the long-term economic damage caused by overzealous statewide stay-at-home orders, the president is looking out for mothers and families who are trying to make it through a once-in-a-century pandemic.

“The future is female,” Democrats say, even as they try to implement anti-family laws that have led to nearly 20 percent of all babies in this country being aborted every year. While the Democrats seek to incentivize and encourage the killing of unborn babies and call it women’s empowerment, President Trump has worked to implement policies that eliminate the real obstacles to female success. Under his administration, women have achieved historic levels of economic success, and the number of abortions simultaneously dropped to a record low

Mothers and pregnant women who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic are being supported, as well. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act signed by President Trump provides $500 million in emergency food stamps and other necessities for children, parents, and seniors. Here in Texas, the Trump administration has worked with Governor Abbott to finance over $1 billion toward this effort.

For parents who previously relied on school meals to help feed their children, coronavirus school closures have been a particular challenge. Over the past two months, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been collaborating with businesses in the private sector to deliver 1,000,000 meals a week to students in rural America whose schools have been closed. These programs are made flexible to serve schools participating in all 15 nutrition programs across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

The president understands that the goal of all these programs is not to keep mothers on food stamps but to provide critical temporary protection for families affected by this public health crisis through no fault of their own. While Democrats single-mindedly demagogue about the supposed danger of reopening “too quickly,” President Trump is vigilant to the dangers of reopening too slowly, as well, and he’s working hard to strike the right balance.

When it comes to women’s empowerment, the Democrats are all talk. That’s why I’m working to help re-elect Donald J. Trump, a president who keeps his promises.
