The primary election voting guide by Texans for Vaccine Choice (TFVC) lists 72 candidates running at all levels of government—from federal to county—who have signed the TFVC pledge.
The TFVC Vaccine Choice Protection Pledge states:
I pledge to the citizens of the State of Texas that I will vigorously work to prohibit all vaccine mandates in Texas, including those imposed by both public and private businesses, and I support a special session to do so immediately.
Notably, all of Gov. Greg Abbott’s biggest Republican primary challengers have signed the Vaccine Choice Protection Pledge. The incumbent governor has so far refused to sign the pledge and refused to call a special session to protect Texans from vaccine mandates.
The governor’s executive order prohibiting vaccine mandates has been systematically ignored by businesses across the state in the wake of federal mandates.
TFVC is encouraging voting in the primary because “[p]articipation in the primary and convention process will be essential to ensure medical freedom is adequately addressed during the 2023 Legislative Session.”
There are 10 ballot propositions on the Republican primary ballot this year; two relate to medical freedom.
Proposition 3 states, “Texans should not lose their jobs, nor should students be penalized, for declining a COVID-19 vaccine.” Proposition 10 states, “Texans affirm that our freedoms come from God and that the government should have no control over the conscience of individuals.” TFVC encourages voters to vote YES on these two propositions as they head to the polls.
These 10 propositions will help determine the Texas GOP priorities for the 2023 legislative session.
Early voting began February 14 and ends February 25. Election Day is March 1.
