Republican voters in Texas will soon go to the polls in the primary runoff election to select the nominees for a few statewide races in which no candidate was able to secure more than 50 percent of the vote in the March primary election.
One of those races is for the office of land commissioner, which is being vacated by current Commissioner George P. Bush due to his campaign for attorney general. With an original field of eight Republican candidates vying for the position, the field has narrowed to two: State Sen. Dawn Buckingham and Dr. Tim Westley.
