Yet another establishment in Texas is making plans to expose children to a “family-friendly” drag show.
Anderson Distillery and Grill announced their “Barrel Babes Drag Brunch” on August 28 in an advertisement that emphatically notes, “All Ages Welcome!”

The event is hosted by Trisha Delish, the season one winner of The Queer Off, a “live 12-week elimination style competition, showcasing the talents of the Dallas queer community.”
The rest of the cast of the all-ages drag show is set to be “announced soon.”
Should the Roanoke restaurant go through with the event, they may risk triggering existing state law concerning sexually oriented businesses.
In June, the Dallas gay bar Mr. Misster was put in the spotlight after hosting a “Drag the Kids to Pride” event, in which scantily clad men dressed as women danced provocatively in front of young children, with the children stuffing dollar bills in the dancers’ underwear.
Citizens noted that, under Chapter 102 of the Texas Business Code which defines “sexually oriented businesses,” the bar would be required to remit a $5 per patron tax to the comptroller for any nude performances. Additionally, the statute says that minors under the age of 18 are not allowed in the business.
“Nude,” as defined in the Business Code, does not only refer to being entirely unclothed; it also applies to performers who are “clothed in a manner that leaves uncovered or visible through less than full opaque clothing … any portion of the genitals or buttocks.”
Comptroller Glenn Hegar says that business is currently under investigation.
Texas Family Project has called on citizens to contact the restaurant and ask them to place an age limitation on the show.
Meanwhile, Protect Texas Kids is organizing a protest of the event.
