A social media post from Dallas Democrat U.S. Rep Colin Allred has resurfaced, showing him welcoming to the U.S. House an individual who is accusing the United States and Israel of committing genocide.

In May 2019, Allred posted a picture on X with Omar Suleiman. Suleiman is a professor at Texas’ Southern Methodist University and has recently shared a slew of pro-Palestine posts.

On Monday, Suleiman responded to President Joe Biden on X, saying, “The United States remains committed to the genocide of Gaza by ensuring that a ceasefire doesn’t happen while the Israeli government continues to slaughter civilians with American weapons.”

In response to Suleiman’s criticism, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R–TX) shared the image from Allred’s X profile showing him welcoming Suleiman into the U.S. House, with Allred writing that he represents “the best of North Texas.”

“Colin Allred embraced & welcomed this antisemite cleric to the House,” wrote Cruz. “Today, he’s accusing BOTH Israel and America of ‘genocide’? That is utterly false and a blood libel.”

“Does Allred agree?” he added.

This isn’t the first controversy plaguing Allred. In October, Texas Scorecard reported on videos that resurfaced showing him calling the border wall “racist” and vowing to “tear it down.”

Allred was also caught saying that America would be better off without the Second Amendment.

Allred is currently running in the Democrat Primary for Texas’ U.S. Senate seat. If he wins, Allred will face Cruz in the November 2024 General Election.

Texas Scorecard reached out to Allred for comment, but received no response before publication.
