A teacher at a Fort Bend Independent School District high school has been arrested on a warrant out of Georgia for the trafficking of a person for sexual servitude.
The teacher, who has not been named, was arrested Wednesday.
The district informed parents of the teacher’s arrest in an email, which was obtained by KHOU 11.
Fort Bend ISD has said that the teacher resigned from the position on December 6.
A spokesperson from the district said they are unable to share more details of the incident.
A former Clements High School teacher was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, on a warrant out of the State of Georgia for Trafficking Persons for Sexual Servitude. Law enforcement believes there were no local victims. Due to privacy laws and to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation, the district is unable to share additional information at this time.
Clements High School is the same school where just three days earlier the principal was arrested and charged with soliciting a prostitute after being busted in an undercover sex trafficking sting.
James Brian Shillingburg had been the principal of the high school since 2022 and was previously the principal of James Bowie Middle School.
Brady Gray, president of Texas Family Project, told Texas Scorecard that parents need to get engaged with their children’s schools.
“Time and time again, we are bombarded with stories of teachers and administrators tasked with educating and caring for our children who are found out to be predators and pedophiles. Parents must get engaged, attend school board meetings, get to know teachers and administrators, learn who has access to and influence over their children,” said Gray. “But we also must ask ourselves, how does this keep happening, how do these people continue to gain positions of authority over our children? And what are these schools doing to prevent it from continuing?”
