In Waco we have the curious case of State Rep. Chales “Doc” Anderson being challenged by the son of a former state senator David Sibley. When the race started, the son-of-a-former-state-senator had only his family name as a claim to fame. Now he’s known as the son-of-a-former-state-senator who isn’t honest about what he does for a living.

The Waco Tribune-Herald — not exactly a friend of conservatives — is reporting that the son-of-a-former-state-senator has been telling folks he isn’t a lobbyist. Flat-out denied it. He just said he did “research” work for a law firm.

Of course, he has been a registered lobbyist. As is his daddy, the former state senator.

Sadly for son-of-a-former-state-senator Sibley, two legislators have stepped up to say that there no question he was a lobbyist.

The best zinger comes from State Rep. Beverly Woolley, chairwoman of the House Calendars Committee. She told the paper: “He lobbied my office on several occasions in 2007, and there was never even a question about it. If Sibley thinks ‘lobbyist’ is a dirty word, I can think of an even worse ‘L’ word that involves misleading the people he wants to represent.”
