On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention completed their work and sent the document they had created to the states for ratification. More than 230 years later, the Constitution of the United States stands as a remarkable document embodying the still revolutionary notion of self-governance as the necessary means of protecting our natural rights and liberties.
Like never before, those inalienable rights and liberties—and the constitutional system of government created to protect them—are under sustained assault. From the freedom of speech to due process, from attacks on federalism to the rise of the unelected regulatory state, no aspect of the framers’ vision for our system of government is safe. Whether it is Beto O’Rourke wanting to outright seize your firearms, or Dan Patrick trying to manage what you do with them, it is sadly evident too many politicians are all too willing to betray our Constitution in the name of their own political power.
Unless we wish to see the light of liberty extinguished in the world, We the People must stand resolute against those who undermine the Constitution and chisel away at our cherished rights.
As it has always been, the only safeguard to our rights and liberties is each other. Will each of us stand ready to uphold, defend, and protect the Constitution?
