Vice President JD Vance is returning to Texas next week for a midterm campaign rally in Tyler, marking his second campaign appearance in the state in less than two weeks.
The rally will take place Tuesday, October 13, at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport.
Doors will open at 8 a.m., with the event beginning at 10 a.m.
Vance previously visited South Texas on September 30, where he joined Gov. Greg Abbott for the groundbreaking of a new $3 billion shipyard in Brownsville before headlining a campaign rally in Harlingen.
Speaking before a packed ballroom at the Harlingen Convention Center, Vance touted the Trump administration’s accomplishments on border security, economic development, and tax cuts while urging voters to elect Republican Eric Flores, who is challenging Democrat U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez.
“Our mandate here is simple,” Vance told the crowd. “We’ve got to fight for the people who sent us to Washington, D.C.—not for the fraudsters, not for the career politicians, not for Wall Street, not for anybody but the people that we answer to.”
Vance also acknowledged frustration among voters over the pace of progress in Washington, specifically pointing to the Senate’s failure to pass the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
He accused Democrats of running from their records and argued that Republicans were working to reverse the policies of the Biden administration.
The upcoming visit also follows President Donald Trump’s rally in San Antonio earlier this week, where he rallied supporters and repeatedly criticized Democrat U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico.
