As presidential announcements continue rolling out, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is planning a fundraising trip, during which she will visit three Texas cities in three days.
Haley seeks to earn $13,200 from platinum sponsors and $6,600 from gold sponsors.
Last month, a poll from CWS Research showed that 5 percent of Republican voters said they would support Haley in her bid for president; however, an updated poll released Friday shows that number went down by 2 percent, with Haley now only gaining the support of 3 percent of Republican voters.
In an attempt to gain more traction for her campaign, Haley has garnered the support of many high-profile Texans, including former President George W. Bush White House Counsel Harriet Miers and attorney Cynthia Picket-Stevenson.
Haley has tied herself to U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R–San Antonio) and has called him the “Border King,” despite Gonzales being censured by the Republican Party of Texas for violating its principles.
Gonzales was among some Republicans who failed to join other GOP members in supporting the Border Safety and Security Act of 2023, which called for the secretary of Homeland Security to prevent illegal aliens from entering the country.
Currently leading the polls are former President Donald Trump (with support from 47 percent of Republican voters) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (with 23 percent).
Haley will visit Houston on June 6, Dallas on June 7, and Midland on June 8.
