Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas announced that he is endorsing Mike Olcott over incumbent House District 60 State Rep. Glenn Rogers of Graford.

Olcott, the co-founder of Parker County Conservatives, is challenging Rogers in the Republican primary. Rogers was one of 21 Republicans who joined Democrats to help kill a school choice proposal in the Texas House earlier this month.

Cruz previously stated he would be endorsing against the 21 Texas House Republicans who voted with Democrats against school choice.

Cruz has now made one of his first endorsements against Rogers, while saying he will continue to support candidates who can get school choice across the finish line.

I am proud to endorse Mike Olcott for Representative of Texas House District 60. A strong conservative and dedicated community leader, Mike represents the first of many strong candidates who are ready to unseat incumbents who failed to vote yes for school choice, the civil rights issue of our time.

Last week, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott also endorsed Olcott, saying he is a “proven fighter” and someone who will help Abbott deliver results in the Texas House.

The race is a rematch, as Rogers narrowly defeated Olcott in 2022.

During the 2022 election, Abbott endorsed Rogers while Cruz endorsed Olcott. However, in the 2024 race, both Abbott and Cruz are backing Olcott.

As of publishing, Rogers did not comment on Cruz’s endorsement of his opponent.
