With the Republican primaries drawing nearer, a new poll reveals Texas GOP voters are increasingly supporting the re-election of former President Donald Trump.

Although the field of candidates vying for the Republican nomination continues to grow, a new poll from CWS Research shows most Texas Republicans remain interested in Trump for the Republican primary.

Out of all the possible candidates—including Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Vice President Mike Pence, and others—the only candidates to receive a double-digit percentage of support in the poll were Trump and DeSantis.

The eight other candidates received between 5 and 0 percent.

DeSantis received 19 percent in the poll; however, Trump received 51 percent.

If the field was narrowed down to the two most likely candidates, polltakers still favored Trump—with 53 percent saying Trump had their vote and 32 percent preferring DeSantis.

Republican voters also overwhelmingly voted in favor of disciplining a U.S. congressman for his role in the Trump-Russia investigation. Seventy-six percent of polltakers agreed with the Republican U.S. Congress members’ announcement to censure Congressman Adam Schiff (R–California) regarding his comments.

This week, President Joe Biden announced his plan to give another $1.3 billion to Ukraine, while continuing to ignore the border crisis.

Eighty-three percent of Texas Republican voters, however, say that money should be going to securing the border instead—specifically, the Texas-Mexico border.
