As Republicans prepare for President Donald Trump’s historic midterm convention in Dallas, the Republican Party of Texas has begun offering participation packages ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 for attendees.
According to information distributed to county Republican chairs, the September 9-10 gathering at American Airlines Center will be “a ticketed fundraiser and rally, not a traditional national convention.”
An email from Texas GOP Chair D’Rinda Randall states there will be no party business or delegate elections and says the event is designed to celebrate the America First movement while raising resources to help state Republican parties ahead of the November elections.
The Texas GOP is offering three participation levels: Honorary Delegate ($20,000), Honorary Alternate Delegate ($15,000), and Honorary Guest ($5,000). According to promotional materials, the top package includes hotel accommodations, on-floor seating, a Texas shirt and cowboy hat, and a convention credential.

The email also states that all attendees must be submitted to the Republican National Committee for approval and vetting.
Because of the RNC’s limited allocation and a July 14 registration deadline, prospective attendees are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
Last week, Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters described the event as a “Trumpapalooza.”
“The president’s the best showman that’s ever existed in politics. Period. So why not highlight him every which way—his policies, his ideas, the people surrounding him and his administration, all these great things that he’s done?” Gruters told Texas Scorecard.
“It’s going to be absolutely amazing. We’re super excited that the president came up with the idea and is willing to do it, and we’re going to use this to kick off our barnstorming tour to help all of our candidates across the country.”
