Trump Returning to Texas for San Antonio Midterm Rally

The president is making good on his pledge to repeatedly campaign in Texas ahead of Election Day.

President Donald Trump will return to Texas this week for a midterm rally in San Antonio, marking his second visit to the state in as many weeks as Republicans push to turn out voters ahead of Election Day.

Trump will headline the rally Wednesday at the Freeman Coliseum, with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. and remarks scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, is expected to join Trump at the event, along with Republican congressional candidate Carlos De La Cruz.

De La Cruz is running against Democrat Johnny Garcia in the newly redrawn 35th Congressional District, which includes portions of San Antonio.

The San Antonio appearance comes less than a week after Trump traveled to North Texas, where he visited the Peterbilt Motors manufacturing facility in Denton before heading north for a midterm rally in Durant, Oklahoma.

Trump promoted Paxton during that trip, calling him “one of the most loyal people” and the best attorney general in the nation.

The president is not the only member of the administration making repeated trips to Texas ahead of the election.

Vice President JD Vance traveled to Harlingen last week for a midterm rally supporting Republican Eric Flores, who is challenging Democrat U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez in the 34th Congressional District.

During the rally, Vance made a direct pitch for voters to elect Flores, while highlighting the Trump administration’s record on border security, crime, and the economy.

The increased attention on Texas follows the Republican National Committee’s first-ever Midterm Convention, held in Dallas last month.

Trump indicated during the convention that Texans could expect to see him repeatedly on the campaign trail before Election Day.

The San Antonio rally comes with less than a month remaining before voters head to the polls on November 3.
