As border patrol agents are swamped with mass numbers of illegal border crossers, the Biden administration is prioritizing preferred pronouns over border security.

A memo obtained by the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project shows the U.S. Department of Homeland Security directing border patrol agents to comply with the preferred pronouns of illegal aliens.

The memo, called the “Guide to facilitating effective communications with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+,” gives guidance to all U.S. Customs and Border Protection employees on how to interact with individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.

The document adds that the terms and definitions are not universal and that “some LGBTQI+ individuals may define these terms differently and the meanings of the terms may change over time.”

DHS also encourages agents to use gender-neutral terminology until they are certain of the person’s preferred pronouns. Additionally, agents are prevented from assuming an illegal alien’s gender and are asked to avoid using “sir, ma’am, mr., and mrs.”

Furthermore, DHS also advises agents to “keep in mind that gender identity (sense of self) and sexual orientation (attraction) are separate and distinct,” adding that agents should avoid asking “what is your sex?”

In a list of “do not’s,” agents are told not to correct an individual’s stated pronouns or gender identity, as “there may be instances where a person’s stated pronoun/gender may be different than the pronoun/gender reflected on their official identification.”

This is not the first time the Biden administration has pushed leftist ideology into government agencies. In 2021, President Joe Biden decided to prioritize asylum claims brought by gender-confused individuals. Vice President Kamala Harris also claimed that violence and discrimination against LGBT persons is the root cause of illegal immigration into the U.S.

The Biden administration’s U.S. Food and Drug Administration also stated that it would withhold free lunch funding from public schools that did not implement pro-transgender policies.

In Texas, the Department of Transportation released documents to Texas Scorecard through a public information request showing that the department stresses the “importance of gendered language and inclusive language in the workplace.”

One class offered by the department stated that the participants would discuss “defining gendered language in the workplace, the benefits of inclusive language, [and] strategies for promoting gender inclusiveness, pronouns, sexuality, gender identity, and gender expression—how they’re different and why they matter.”

While government agencies attempt to ensure employees do not offend anyone, the southwest border saw 2.4 million illegal alien encounters in Fiscal Year 2023. Now, only one month into Fiscal Year 2024, border patrol agents have encountered 240,988 illegal aliens.
