Late Friday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced the record-breaking number of illegal crossings for September—the final month in the federal fiscal year.

There were 227,547 encounters on the southwest border for the month of September (the highest ever recorded in September), bringing the total number of southwest border encounters to 2,378,944 for federal FY22. This brought the nationwide total to a never-before-seen 2,766,582.

CBP continues to blame “the large number of individuals fleeing failing authoritarian regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba” for “an increased number of migrants attempting to cross the border.”

According to CBP, “the number of unique individuals encountered nationwide in September 2022 was 182,704, a 15 percent increase in the number of unique enforcement encounters over the prior month.”

A “unique encounter” is an encounter with an illegal border-crosser CBP has not encountered in the previous 12 months. CBP continued to blame Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba for this increase, as they were 42 percent of the unique encounters. Another 32 percent of unique encounters came from northern Central America, with the remaining 26 percent coming from regions other than South America.

Former U.S. officials from President Donald Trump’s administration have been raising concerns, as this 26 percent is coming from Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe—each locale indicative of various national security implications.

Notably, more than 100,000 of the illegals encountered on the southwest border in September entered through Texas.

Texans have been sounding the alarm regarding the border crisis for over a year now, including the devastation to property, livelihoods, and human life.

The National Border Patrol Council said this year’s number is only a warning sign of what is coming under the Biden administration.

They also criticized the Biden administration for releasing the numbers late on a Friday, stating, “Biden Admin corruptly covered all this up for weeks and then dumped it on a Friday night to avoid the blistering coverage it would otherwise receive – not from the MSM – but from the few honest media outlets who dare to criticize this administration for their shortcomings.”

Meanwhile, Fox News obtained a number not found in the CBP press release: the number of migrant deaths.

“The number that @CBP refuses to make public: 856 – the number of migrants DEATHS at our southern border for FY22. The highest and deadliest EVER on record. Meanwhile, there have been 25 migrant deaths already this FY23…”

As communities suffer under the onslaught of illegal aliens—who themselves suffer the consequences of dangerous, life-threatening border policies—counties across the state are requesting that Gov. Greg Abbott declare an invasion of the southern border.
