Articles of impeachment against U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for high crimes and misdemeanors were filed this week by U.S. Rep. Pat Fallon (R-TX).

In Fiscal Year 2023, which began in October, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has already reported more than 400,000 encounters at the southern border. There were more than 2 million encounters in Fiscal Year 2022.

On Monday, Fallon filed paperwork accusing Mayorkas of engaging in “a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with his duties as an Officer of the United States.”

“Since day one, Secretary Mayorkas’s policies have undermined law enforcement activities at our southern border,” Fallon said in a statement to Fox News

From perjuring himself before Congress about maintaining operational control of the border to the infamous ‘whip-gate’ slander against our border patrol agents, Secretary Mayorkas has proven time and time again that he is unfit to lead the Department of Homeland Security.

Under Mayorkas’ leadership, more than 5 million illegal aliens have crossed the southern border and more than 100 individuals on the Terrorist Screening Database have been apprehended.

The resolution from Fallon also includes that Secretary Mayorkas has tried to end the “Remain in Mexico” policy, eliminate Title 42, and terminate contracts for additional border wall construction.

Under Secretary Mayorkas, the Department of Homeland Security is also in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 et seq.). This Act requires the Department of Homeland Security to detain inadmissible aliens arriving in the United States or aliens who are present in the United States without inspection until processed. In violation of the law, Secretary Mayorkas implemented catch-and-release directives such as the Notice to Report process and the parole plus Alternatives to Detention process. Through these misguided programs, over 1,000,000 illegal aliens have been recklessly released into the interior of the United States.

Another Republican Texas congressman, U.S. Rep Troy Nehls (TX-22), joined Fallon in introducing the articles of impeachment, saying the fact that the border is unsecure is by design.

“I’ve been calling for Mayorkas’ impeachment as well,” said Nehls, “because if you look at what he’s done, he will look in the camera and tell the American people the southern border is secure.”

He added, “We’re not stupid. The American people can see there are thousands of people who have entered this country. It’s by design, it’s deliberate, and it must stop.”

The border invasion is wreaking havoc on the lives of Texans and the illegal aliens smuggled into the country at the whims of the cartels.

Concerned citizens can contact their elected officials to register their opinion on how Texas should respond to the crisis.
