The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is rolling out a new initiative repurposing the CBP One App to a self-deportation app.

In a Monday announcement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection revealed that the notorious CBP One App is being converted to CBP Home—which includes a new feature called “Intent to Depart” the country.

The new feature allows either an illegal alien or foreign national whose parole has been revoked to notify the U.S. government of his or her desire to leave the country.

“CBP Home App strengthens our mission to secure the U.S. border by ensuring lawful entry for travelers and supporting effective enforcement,” stated CBP Acting Commissioner Pete Flores.

He also explained that “The app provides illegal aliens in the United States with a straightforward way to declare their intent to voluntarily depart, offering them the chance to leave before facing harsher consequences.”

Flores asserted that the new app reaffirms the agency’s commitment to enforcing existing immigration laws.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem in a statement to Fox News accused the Biden administration of exploiting the CBP One App to allow over one million foreign nationals to enter the United States.

Noem explained that the revamped app “gives aliens the option to leave now and self-deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream.” Her statement included a stern warning: if they refuse to leave, they will be found, deported, and barred from ever entering the United States again.

Former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent Victor Avila told Texas Scorecard that the new app is yet another tool at the DHS’ disposal to have illegal aliens sent back to their countries of origin, especially if they originally entered using the CBP One App.

“This will give illegals the opportunity to apply to enter the U.S. legally rather than be barred for life if caught by ICE,” Avila explained. “This app will also allow ICE to focus on those with deportation orders and criminal histories.”

According to Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, any foreign national who had the prior CBP One App “will have it auto-update to this new app, & DHS can use data from prior CBP One registrations to track migrants for removal.”
