With Republicans awaiting his endorsement in the Texas Senate runoff, President Donald Trump instead turned his attention to the General Election, blasting Democrat nominee James Talarico.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump called Talarico “a FRAUD” and argued that the Democrat would be a weak General Election candidate.
“He may be the Worst Candidate I have ever seen,” Trump wrote, adding that “any human being running against him… even a child, would win.”
Talarico recently defeated U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett to secure the Democrat nomination for U.S. Senate.
Trump’s post included a series of personal criticisms of Talarico, accusing him of being “weak” and “ineffective,” while also claiming Republicans “allowed” him to win before “releasing the avalanche of information” about him.
“I believe that any human being running against him, sick, incompetent, close to death or, even a child, would win,” Trump wrote.
The comments come as Republicans remain locked in a high-profile runoff between U.S. Sen. John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Trump has not yet endorsed a candidate in the Republican primary but has previously indicated he plans to weigh in on the race.
The Texas Senate contest has already drawn national attention and record-breaking spending and is expected to remain one of the most closely watched races in the country as both parties prepare for the General Election.
