A group of House lawmakers are calling on the Biden administration to end the practice of secretly flying illegal aliens into the country.

The letter, signed by 23 members of the U.S. House, highlights their “grave concerns over the Biden administration’s actions to fly approximately 320,000 illegal immigrants from Latin American airports to 43 cities across the United States.”

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, from October 2022 through December 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has granted flight authorizations to more than 320,000 illegal aliens. Illegal aliens were able to fly from foreign airports into various U.S. airports, although which airports the agency refuses to disclose. Each illegal alien is eligible for two-year renewable work authorizations in multiple cities.

The lawmakers demanded the agency provide “Congress and the American people with information as to where these illegal immigrants have been deposited into the country.”

The letter also cites a March 4 CIS report revealing how CBP has approved these “secretive flights” via the CBP One app. CIS’ ongoing Freedom of Information Act lawsuit also reveals how government lawyers are pushing to withhold the information regarding the U.S. airports—citing the “law enforcement exception”—because releasing the complacent airport locations would “harm public safety beyond citing ‘the sensitivity of the information.’”

Additionally, the lawmakers point out the more than 50 terror-watchlisted individuals who have been encountered in Fiscal Year 2024 so far.

“We are concerned that there could be additional illegal immigrants on the terrorist watch list who could be flown into cities across the United States. The recent murder of Laken Riley by an illegal immigrant highlights the senseless and destructive policies put in place by the Biden administration,” wrote the lawmakers. “The American people cannot afford more tragedies due to immigrants entering our country illegally.”

Todd Bensman, a Senior National Security Fellow with CIS told Texas Scorecard that the public would be best served if the Biden administration released the names of the U.S. airports bringing in hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens.

“The public interest would be clearly served if the Biden administration ends its pointless recalcitrance and provides the names of receiving airports–And the numbers of immigrants authorized to fly into them—to mayors, city councils, and voters who need this information to plan how to pay for immigrant care or to seek redress from federal officials to moderate or altogether stop the flight authorizations. Those cities are staggering under the unfunded unexpected burden of thousands of migrants making their way into their cities in this and other ways,” said Bensman. “Let the people know!”

The letter was signed by five Texas lawmakers: U.S. Reps. Brian Babin (R-36), Ronny Jackson (R-13), Lance Gooden (R-5), Troy Nehls (R-22), and Keith Self (R-3). No Democrats signed on to the letter.
