U.S. Rep. Jodey Arrington (TX-19) introduced a resolution condemning Vice President Kamala Harris for championing anti-law enforcement policies that promote and encourage lawlessness nationwide.
In a press release on Thursday announcing the resolution, Arrington said, “Kamala Harris is working tirelessly to reinvent herself as a mainstream moderate, but her record reveals she’s proudly aligned with the radical Left with a clear history of empowering criminals and vilifying our law enforcement.”
Arrington’s resolution cited several examples of the vice president’s pro-criminal, anti-law enforcement actions, including statements made during her tenure as the junior U.S. senator from California, when Harris said, ‘‘to believe that by putting more police on the street, you’re going to have more safety—that’s just wrong.’’
Then-Senator Harris stated that “an undocumented immigrant is not a criminal,” made a comparison of “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to members of the Ku Klux Klan,” and promoted raising funds to pay bail and secure a quick release for those “arrested for alleged crimes including rioting, sexual assault, domestic violence, assault of a police officer, and murder.”
While running for president in the 2020 Democrat primary, Harris also supported decriminalizing illegal immigration.
Arrington’s press release pointed out that as vice president and “Border Czar,” Harris has supported open border policies that have led to increased “crime, fentanyl poisoning, and criminal aliens perpetrating violent acts against innocent Americans.”
America First Policy Institute’s Center for Law and Justice Director Scott G. Erickson said, “Kamala Harris’ approach to public safety and her views on law enforcement are exactly the opposite of what our Nation needs right now.”
He added, “America is experiencing sustained levels of crime far higher than they were merely four years ago, and now, more than ever, we need to unequivocally support our law enforcement community and encourage a return to proactive policing and a firm commitment to the rule of law.”
Ryan Walker, executive vice president of Heritage Action, applauded Rep. Arrington for working to set the record straight about the vice president.
“No matter how many times Kamala Harris tries to rewrite history and paint herself as a ‘tough-on-crime’ prosecutor, she can’t change her support for defunding the police and bailing violent criminals out of jail,” Walker said.
He added, “For decades, Harris has backed progressive prosecutors across the country and the dangerous ideology that excuses crime and puts victims last.”
Kamala Harris and the Biden administration’s open border policies have brought danger to American citizens and communities across the nation including Texas. In early September, Dallas Police confirmed the presence of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and the increase in crime and violence in the city.
