Just hours before the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life, a Democrat U.S. representative from Texas described Trump supporters as domestic threats.

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-30) stated in an interview with MSNBC, “Right now, I feel like MAGA in general, they are threats to us domestically.”

“And we see it time and time again,” she continued before endorsing 2024 Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

Only a few hours after her demonization of Trump supporters, a man named Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, allegedly attempted to assassinate the former president.

State Rep. Brian Harrison (R-Midlothian) pointed out that last April, Crockett tried to deprive Trump of protection provided by the U.S. Secret Service before the first attempt to take his life.

“She tried to take away Trump’s Secret Service protection right before he was shot the last time,” Harrison posted Sunday on X. “Thats why many of my colleagues in the #Txlege House have called for her to resign.”

In the same X post, Harrison once again demanded that Crockett resign from the legislature.

Routh allegedly attempted to kill Trump with an AK-47 on the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach. The would-be assassin appeared in federal court this morning.

CBS reports that Routh is charged with possession of a firearm as a felon and possession of a firearm with an erased serial number. If Routh is convicted on both charges, he would spend a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Crockett’s support of a measure that sought to strip Trump of his Secret Service protection received new attention following the July 13 attempted assassination of Trump, with Texas representatives jointly sending a letter to Crockett demanding that she resign from office.

H.R. 8081, also known as the DISGRACED Former Protectees Act, aimed to remove presidential protection “for any person who is sentenced for a federal or state offense that is punishable by at least one year in prison.” It was co-sponsored by eight Democrats—including Crockett.

Harrison reportedly spearheaded the letter to Crockett, which demands that “we, the undersigned current and future members of the Texas Legislature, call on you to immediately resign your position in Congress.”

“You have forfeited any moral authority to represent the State of Texas,” it concluded.
