People respond to leadership, especially when it is leadership driven by principles. It’s always good to see people recognize a good thing when they’ve got it. Bill ZedlerAnd in Tarrant County, they know they’ve got a good legislator, who leads by principle.

Early this evening I presented State Rep. Bill Zedler (R-Arlington) with the Texas Taxpayer Hero Award at the monthly meeting of the Tarrant County Republican Executive Committee meeting. These are the activists of the activists; a tough crowd to please.

But when folks found out I was there to present Zedler with an award, they beamed and wanted to tell me how proud they were of their representative.

And then came time for the presentation. I briefly described what TFR is all about, explained how Mr. Zedler was one of only 15 members to get the award, and one of only four to score a perfect 100 on the rating. I would have said more about his record as a leader on fiscal issues, but as I handed him the award, the crowd was on their feet, applauding and whooping for Zedler. You couldn’t have paid these people to hold it down.

It must be what it’s like when you walk in a room with a rock star. Texas needs a lot more “rock star” legislators like Bill Zedler, willing to put taxpayers at the top of the agenda.
