Another Kemp Independent School District teacher has been accused of sexual misconduct.
Anthony Aaron Trahan, 35, was arrested and charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.
The offense includes sexual contact or sexually explicit communication with a student, regardless of the student’s age.
Trahan was a Culinary Arts teacher at Kemp High School.
Now-deleted posts on the Kemp ISD website state that Trahan was in his “third year at Kemp ISD as the Culinary Arts Teacher and FCCLA [Family, Career and Community Leaders of America] Sponsor” and had “13 years of restaurant experience.”
Trahan worked in the district’s transportation department in 2022 before becoming a Kemp ISD teacher in 2023.
According to state records, Trahan does not hold a Texas teaching certificate.
On September 5, Kemp ISD posted an “important notice” from Superintendent James Young, stating that an unnamed employee had been terminated following an investigation of “inappropriate conduct.”
On late Wednesday night, September 3, 2025, Kemp ISD Police and Administration were made aware of a concern regarding the actions of a Kemp High School employee. Kemp ISD Administration and the appropriate authorities immediately began reviewing and investigating an allegation of the employee engaging in inappropriate conduct. The employee did not return to any Kemp ISD campus after the initial report was made. The District Administration issued a notice of termination to the employee.
Young said the investigation is ongoing with Kemp ISD Police and other agencies.
“The District Administration takes any school employee allegation seriously and is committed to a thorough, fair, and cooperative review of all information with appropriate authorities,” added Young.
Trahan was arrested by the Kemp Police Department and booked into the Kaufman County Jail on September 8.
Jail records show he is no longer in custody.
Hundreds of Texas educators have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children over the past few years in school districts across the state, including Kemp ISD.
In April, Kemp High School science teacher Ryan Hedges was charged with child grooming and displaying harmful material to a minor student.
Thousands of educator sexual misconduct complaints have been reported to the Texas Education Agency since the agency began keeping organized records in 2021.
