A bus monitor employed by Celina Independent School District was fired and jailed after he was accused of “inappropriate contact” with a female student.
Timothy Adams, 76, was arrested Monday by Celina Police and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact and improper relationship between educator and student.
In a message to parents, Celina ISD Superintendent Tom Maglisceau said district officials became aware of the allegations on January 13 and acted “immediately” to notify authorities and fire Adams.
The District immediately notified and collaborated with law enforcement and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Mr. Adams has been taken into police custody and terminated by the District. Appropriate reporting and notification to the State Board of Educator Certification has been made by District administration. The District will continue to work with the family of the student involved and support the Celina Police Department and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as they continue the investigative process.
Maglisceau noted that Adams previously worked as a substitute bus driver for the district from December of 2023 through May of 2024.
“We encourage parents to speak with their children to ensure no other children were negatively impacted by Mr. Adams,” he wrote. “If your child shares with you anything of concern, we urge you to immediately contact Celina ISD Director of Safe and Secure Schools, Dave Wilson, at 469-742-9100, or via email at davidwilson@celinaisd.com. CISD will notify the Celina PD of any information shared with the District.”
Adams is being held in the Collin County Jail on a $75,000 bond for each charge.
Both charges against him are second-degree felonies punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.
Local residents praised Celina school officials’ response to the sexual misconduct allegations compared to nearby Prosper ISD’s.
In Prosper, Superintendent Holly Ferguson and others hushed up a bus driver’s sexual abuse of two elementary school sisters for months until the victims’ family sued.
“Celina ISD acted quickly and shared the information with the parents in an honest and transparent manner. Complete 180 compared to the way Prosper handled similar situations,” one person commented on social media.
“Seems like Celina acted quicker and didn’t sweep it under the rug,” a Celina dad wrote.
“See how easy this is Prosper?” posted another.
“And yet Prosper ISD continues to cover up what happened and fight the lawsuit filed by the victims’ family,” added a Prosper mom.
