Another Texas teacher and coach has been accused of sexual misconduct with a student.

Lily Victoria Janek, 25, was arrested and charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.

Janek was a PE teacher and coach for the Mullin Independent School District.

The Brownwood Police Department stated they began investigating after receiving a report in November 2024 that Janek was involved in a sexual relationship with a Mullin High School student.

Detectives learned that Janek invited the student to her home in Brownwood on multiple occasions, where they allegedly engaged in sexual activity. Investigators said Janek confessed to the crime.

The case was presented to a Brown County grand jury, which returned the felony indictment.

Janek was arrested on April 23 and held on a $50,000 bond.

In a statement following Janek’s arrest, Superintendent Kayla Sparks indicated that district officials were notified on April 4 that “a Mullin ISD employee had confessed to inappropriate conduct with a high school student.” Sparks did not identify Janek as the employee.

According to Sparks, the employee was then reported to Child Protective Services, suspended, and banned from school property.

On April 7, the board of trustees voted to terminate Janek, and Sparks filed a report with the Texas Education Agency.

“The safety and security of our students is our highest priority,” added Sparks.

State records indicate Janek does not hold a Texas teaching certificate.

Janek graduated from La Vernia High School in 2018 and played basketball at Howard Payne University.

Janek is among hundreds of Texas school employees accused of sex crimes against students and other children in just the past few years.

Thousands of cases of educator misconduct have been reported to the state since the Texas Education Agency began keeping organized records.
