A Conroe kindergarten teacher is in jail for allegedly soliciting a child for sex.
Brian Daniel Schultz, 39, was arrested Tuesday and charged with online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
Schultz taught at Snyder Elementary School in the Conroe Independent School District.
Principal Crystal Poncho notified Snyder families on Wednesday that Schultz had been arrested.
She said Schultz’s arrest “was not related to Snyder Elementary.”
Poncho noted that Schultz was hired by Conroe ISD on August 3, 2021.
“Upon learning of his arrest, we immediately initiated the necessary personnel processes to end his employment with the district,” she wrote.
Poncho added that she would be personally reaching out to parents and guardians of students in Schultz’s classes.
Schultz was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on April 22 and held on a $30,000 bond.
State records show Schultz’s teaching certificate is under review by the Texas Education Agency.
According to his Facebook page, Schultz is married and formerly worked as a teacher in Spring ISD and as a preschool director for Abiding Word Lutheran Church in North Houston.
Nicole Cahill, a parent of a student in Schultz’s class, expressed her concern to local media. “You have a lot of trust and faith in people that you’re giving your child to all day long. And so, of course, you have trust in them. You have faith in them. So, when something like this happens, it’s shocking because you don’t see it coming.”
The Montgomery County Constable’s Office has stated that it is working with Conroe ISD to determine whether there are additional victims.
Two other Conroe ISD employees have also been arrested this year and charged with sex crimes against children.
Stephen Andrew Zarruk, who worked as a substitute and contract instructor for Conroe ISD, was arrested in January on a charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact. Zarruk allegedly assaulted a minor he was training at a martial arts studio.
Michael Perry, a Conroe ISD warehouse worker, was arrested in March on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Perry was a local Crime Stoppers “Featured Felon.”
Zarruk, Perry, and Schultz are among hundreds of Texas school employees accused of sex crimes involving children in just the past few years.
