Voters in Conroe Independent School District elected four conservative school board challengers in Tuesday’s election.

Conservatives have now captured all seven Conroe ISD school board seats for “Mama Bears”—a nickname for women who are fiercely protective of children.

Candidates Nicole May, Lindsay Dawson, Melissa Semmler, and Marianne Horton ran as a slate in the November 5 election.

All four earned endorsements from the Montgomery County Republican Party and the Texas GOP.

The four newly elected candidates will join Conroe ISD’s three other conservative Mama Bear trustees elected in November 2022: Melissa Dungan, Tiffany Nelson, and Misty Odenweller.

“This is the ONLY large district with a 7-member, fully conservative school board in Texas, and the FIRST all female board in TEXAS HISTORY,” Conroe resident Cassandra Crowe posted on social media.

Crowe acknowledged the campaign was contentious but added, “The people have spoken. Now, the work and healing begins.”

In another Montgomery County school district, Tomball ISD voters elected conservative Jennifer Kratky as a trustee.

Kratky was also endorsed by the county and state Republican parties.

Newly elected trustees will be sworn into office after the November 5 election results are canvassed.
