School Headshot & Jail Mugshot

Roxburgh turned himself in to the Edinburg CISD Police on Wednesday.

He was booked into the Hidalgo County Jail on June 24 and released the same day on a $25,000 bond.

Edinburg CISD stated that school officials took immediate action consistent with district policy and state law upon learning of the allegations against Roxburgh.

The district added it will not release any information that could identify Roxburgh’s alleged target, citing student privacy and federal law.

Online records show Roxburgh, who is married, had taught in Edinburg CISD since the 2021-22 school year. He previously worked at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Roxburgh has held a Texas teaching certificate since 2021.

In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children in districts across the state—including Edinburg.

In January, Memorial Middle School attendance clerk Carlos Garcia was charged with sexual assault of a child and online solicitation of a minor.

In 2025, Vela High School head football coach Ernie Alonzo was sued by the family of a student athlete the coach allegedly forced to perform “strenuous physical exercise completely nude” while in the boys’ locker room.

The state’s Educator Misconduct Reporting Dashboard shows that the Texas Education Agency is currently investigating more than 2,400 sexual misconduct complaints and opening an average of 260 new cases each month.
