Another Texas teacher is in jail on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material.

George Russell McAllister, 61, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, a felony.

At the time of his arrest by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, McAllister worked at Ferris High School in the Ferris Independent School District.

According to his LinkedIn page, “Mac” McAllister was a “part-time welding teacher” at Ferris ISD. Online records show he had worked for the district since 2020.

McAllister holds a lifetime provisional teaching certificate dating back to 1992, which is currently under review.

Ferris ISD Superintendent Hector Madrigal notified parents on Thursday that an unnamed employee was arrested for “alleged criminal conduct involving the possession of child pornography.”

“Upon learning of the arrest, Ferris ISD terminated the employee. Required reports are being forwarded to the Texas Education Agency,” wrote Madrigal.

Madrigal said the arresting agency informed the district that the alleged crime “does not involve any students associated with Ferris ISD.”

“The safety and well-being of our students remains our top priority,” he added.

McAllister was booked into the Ellis County Jail on November 5. Bond was set at $100,000.

Possession of “child pornography” (the legal term for child sexual abuse material) is a third-degree felony if the person possesses fewer than 10 visual depictions of child sex abuse.

In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas educators have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other minors—including possessing, producing, and distributing child sex abuse material.

Earlier this week, Mesquite ISD teacher Chad Beery was jailed for possessing child sexual abuse material and visual material depicting sexual assault.

Thousands of educator sexual misconduct complaints have been reported to the TEA since the agency began keeping organized records in 2021.
