A now-former Stockdale Independent School District teacher has been indicted on charges related to an alleged sexual relationship with an underage student.

Peter Aaron Leach, 34, was teaching at Stockdale High School when he was arrested in February and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact and improper relationship between educator and student.

Leach was allowed to resign from the district after learning of an investigation into the allegations, according to a Feb. 11 letter to families from Superintendent Todd Deaver.

Deaver stated that district administrators learned of the allegations on Feb. 10 but could not release the employee’s name “until an indictment has been issued.”

Wilson County News reported Tuesday that a grand jury has now formally indicted Leach on four felony charges:

— Improper relationship between educator and student
— Indecency with a child by sexual contact
— Child grooming
— Tampering with or fabricating physical evidence

Leach allegedly tampered with a burner cell phone in an attempt to cover up his crimes.

Stockdale ISD is a three-school district southeast of San Antonio with about 850 students.

Leach is certified to teach English. His certificate is under review by the Texas Education Agency.

He is among hundreds of Texas school employees accused of sex crimes involving students and other children in just the past few years.

Thousands of cases of educator sexual misconduct have been reported to the state since the TEA began keeping organized records in 2021.
