Another Texas teacher is accused of a sex crime involving a student, marking the fourth female school employee arrested this month for sexual misconduct.

Darian Christine Rogers was arrested Friday and charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.

The offense includes sexual contact or sexually explicit communication with a student, regardless of their age.

According to court records, the alleged crime occurred in November 2024.

Rogers’ LinkedIn and Instagram accounts show she graduated this month from the University of Texas with a degree in teaching and special education.

She recently completed student teaching at Rouse High School in Leander Independent School District, but spokeswoman Crestina Hardie told Texas Scorecard the alleged incidents “did not occur in her capacity as a student-teacher during school hours or school-related activities after hours.”

A notice sent to families on Friday by Rouse High School Principal Vincent Hawkins stated that the district was informed on April 9 that “authorities had received a report of an inappropriate relationship involving a student and a student-teacher.”

“While this individual briefly completed student-teaching hours on our campus earlier this spring, we want to be clear: the alleged misconduct did not occur at school, during school hours, or at any school-sponsored event,” stated Hawkins.

The individual was not a Leander ISD or Rouse High School employee and was immediately removed from campus once the district was made aware of the situation. District administration promptly notified both the individual’s university program and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and has fully cooperated with law enforcement throughout the investigation.

Following the investigation, the Leander Police Department issued an arrest warrant and charges were filed against Darian Rogers. Because Rouse High School was mentioned in the police report, we felt it was important to address the situation directly with our school community.

Rogers was arrested on May 16 and booked into the Williamson County Jail. She was released the next day on a $20,000 bond.

State records show Rogers does not hold a Texas teaching certificate. She is not currently listed on the Do Not Hire Registry of individuals ineligible to be employed by a public school.

Hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes against students and other children in just the past few years, often with multiple arrests made each week.

Rogers is the fourth female school employee arrested this month for felony sexual misconduct with a student. On Saturday, Magnolia ISD teacher’s aide Sheila Valdivieso was charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact.

Thousands of cases of educator sexual misconduct have been reported to the state since the Texas Education Agency began keeping organized records.
