On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump waded into the Tarrant County district attorney race, endorsing Judge Phil Sorrells for the open position.

“Phil Sorrells is an experienced prosecutor and exceptional criminal court judge who will support Law Enforcement, fight to put dangerous criminals behind bars, and ensure honest elections,” said Trump. “He knows public safety is government’s first responsibility, and that is why he has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Tarrant County District Attorney!”

Sorrells is joined in the race by Judge Mollee Westfall, as well as State Rep. Matt Krause (R–Fort Worth).

Notably, Sorrells’ campaign consultant is Allen Blakemore, who is also the consultant for Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who has heavily influenced the former president’s endorsements. At a campaign rally last month in Conroe, Trump said Patrick had gotten “a hell of a lot of endorsements” out of him for his chosen candidates.

Early voting continues through February 25. Election Day is March 1.
