A teacher in Houston Independent School District is out on bond after being arrested for sending pictures of his genitals to two 14-year-old female students via Instagram.
Marshall Middle School math teacher Abdurahman Milani, 27, is accused of grooming the girls for months with nude photos and sexually suggestive messages, then assaulting one of them at school.
Milani is charged with four felonies:
- Sexual assault of a child age 14-17
- Improper relationship between educator and student
- Indecency with a child
- Online solicitation of a minor
The first three charges are second-degree felonies punishable by two to 20 years in prison. Three other charges were dropped.
The two victims are friends.
A parent of one of the victims notified the school in May about what was going on.
Investigators found communications with Milani on one girl’s phone going back to December.
The other girl told investigators that Milani fondled her in his classroom, then later they engaged in sexual activity after he lured her to his classroom with an Instagram message.
One of the girl’s moms said Milani suggested her daughter could make good grades in exchange for sexual favors.
Milani was arrested and booked into Harris County Jail on August 10. He has since been released from jail on a $175,000 bond.
Houston ISD said Milani was immediately put on administrative leave when the allegations were made.
State Board for Educator Certification records show Milani’s Texas teacher certificate is currently valid, but he is under review by the Texas Education Agency.
Texas Scorecard has reported on dozens of Texas educators accused of sex crimes involving students and other minors, and more “bad apples” are being charged almost every day.
