A teacher in Lampasas Independent School District is under investigation by local law enforcement following allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a student.
Parents received a notification Monday about the investigation from Lampasas High School Principal Paul Weinheimer and Lampasas Middle School Principal Wes Graham
“Lampasas ISD is in full cooperation with the Lampasas Police Department and the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department in conducting a further investigation,” Weinheimer and Graham wrote to parents in the Central Texas school district.
The notice stated that the staff member had resigned, but school officials did not disclose the accused teacher’s name due to “privacy laws and the nature of the investigation.”
District parents have shared the identity of the teacher with Texas Scorecard. As the district has yet to confirm the individual in question and an arrest has not yet been made, the name is being withheld.
The teacher in question worked with students at both the middle and high school.
On Wednesday, the teacher was removed from one of the school’s staff directories. State records show the teacher is certified.
Superintendent Chane Rascoe has not yet responded to a request for comment.
Although Lampasas ISD officials allowed this teacher to resign, state law requires superintendents to report any allegations of teacher misconduct involving a student to the Texas Education Agency within seven business days.
As of Wednesday, the TEA was not investigating the teacher.
Principals Graham and Weinheimer said Monday that parents can direct questions or concerns to the high school or middle school administration.
Parent advocates advise families to also contact local law enforcement directly with any information about possible misconduct.
