A high school teacher in the Lewisville Independent School District was jailed for alleged sexual misconduct with a student.

Gloria Martinez Resendiz, 35, was arrested and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony, and child grooming, a third-degree felony.

Resendiz teaches at Hebron High School but has been on administrative leave while police conducted a criminal investigation.

According to a statement from the Carrollton Police Department, a school administrator notified police on September 27 about “concerning electronic communications” between Resendiz and a juvenile student.

The student was enrolled in one of Resendiz’ classes during a prior school year. Jail records show the offenses occurred in March 2026.

Police found evidence of an “ongoing inappropriate relationship” between the teacher and student and obtained arrest warrants for Resendiz.

Arrest documents obtained by FOX 4 allege Resendiz made video calls with the student at least three or four times a day, with some calls lasting over seven hours. Investigators said the student would spend time in Resendiz’ classroom during lunch and after school. She reportedly gave the student multiple gifts, and the student wrote in a note that the two had kissed in March.

Resendiz turned herself in and was booked into the Denton County Jail on October 6. Bond was set at $100,000.

Police said they are continuing to investigate and may file additional charges as more evidence is reviewed.

Hebron High School Principal Amy Boughton and 9th Grade Campus Principal Amanda Werneke notified families that arrest warrants had been issued for Resendiz and that she remained on administrative leave.

Parents or students with information are encouraged to contact Carrollton Police.

Resendiz began working for Lewisville ISD in 2022. She has been certified to teach Spanish since 2014.

She is among hundreds of Texas school employees accused of sex crimes involving students and other children. Thousands have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.

TEA data shows the agency is currently investigating more than 3,000 educator sexual misconduct complaints and opening an average of 250 new cases each month.

Overall misconduct reports tripled in 2026 compared to 2025.
