A Lockhart man who coached youth volleyball and previously worked in a public school is accused of engaging a young child in sexual conduct.

Aaron Aguilar, 28, was arrested last week and charged with sexual performance by a child under the age of 14.

Depending on the specific circumstances of the crime, the offense is a first- or second-degree felony when a victim is younger than 14.

Aguilar coached at Texas TopFlight, which offers youth volleyball training and club play for boys and girls ages 10-18.

KVUE reported that club members were notified of Aguilar’s termination.

Hello TopFlight, I am writing to inform you regarding a very sad situation that has happened with one of our coaches, Aaron Aguilar. I want you all to know that once this situation was brought to my attention his contract was terminated immediately. I also want you to know that every one of our coaches must go through a strenuous background check with USAV and AAU.

He did pass this background check with no flags.

At this time, we would like to pray for all parties that were affected by this situation and assure you that we will do everything we can to make sure all of our players are always safe.

Online records show Aguilar worked as an educational aide in Lockhart Independent School District in 2024. District officials have not yet responded to a request for more information about Aguilar’s employment.

State records indicate that Aguilar does not hold a Texas teaching certificate.

Aguilar was booked into the Caldwell County Jail on April 15 and held on a $200,000 bond.

Caldwell County Sheriff Mike Lane stated that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.

The sheriff asked anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Division.

In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving children.
