A teacher in Magnolia Independent School District is the latest Texas educator arrested for a sex crime involving a student and possessing child porn.

Grant Tozer, 26, was arrested Tuesday and charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison.

He was also charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, third-degree felonies punishable by two to 10 years in prison.

Tozer taught math in the International Baccalaureate program at Magnolia High School until late last month, when he was accused of being involved in an “improper relationship” with a student.

Magnolia High School principal Greg Quinn notified parents on March 31 that an employee, who he did not identify, had been placed on administrative leave after “a report of unprofessional conduct between an employee and student was made to the Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office and our School Resource Officer.”

According to the Montgomery County Police Reporter, Tozer has since resigned.

Constables say the investigation remains ongoing.

As of April 11, the State Board for Educator Certification shows Tozer’s teaching certificate is valid.

Texas Penal Code defines an “improper relationship” as a primary or secondary school employee engaging in either sexual contact with a student of any age or sexually explicit communication with anyone younger than 17 years of age.

Texas Scorecard has reported on dozens of Texas educators accused of misconduct such as improper relationships with students, possessing and watching child porn at school, and distributing child pornography, and more “bad apples” are being charged almost every day.
