A North Texas teacher has been arrested and charged with indecency with a minor.

Ricardo Tello, a second grade teacher at Hodges Elementary School in Mesquite ISD, was arrested and charged in Dallas County with felony indecency with a child.

It is currently unclear whether the alleged victim was a student.

The school district, meanwhile, says they have placed Tello on administrative leave.

“Our highest priority is always the safety and well-being of our students. As educators, we share our families’ heartbreak and anger about this situation, and we are committed to moving forward with care and support for our Hodges community,” a district spokesperson said in a statement.

The district also says they are notifying the State Board for Educator Certification. Currently his license is still shown as valid.

Tello is the latest in a string of Texas teachers charged with sex crimes against students and other children.
