North Texas voters went to the polls Tuesday to vote in the May 22 primary runoff election — but turnout was a small fraction of those who were eligible. In the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, voter turnout ranged from 3.2 to 5.9 percent of registered voters.

Even with a top-of-the-ticket race on the runoff ballot, Democrat turnout statewide was only 429,000 — just 2.8 percent of the state’s registered voters. They chose Lupe Valdez over Andrew White to face Gov. Greg Abbott in the November general election, by a margin of 53 to 47 percent.

No statewide races were on the Republican primary runoff ballot. Locally, four of six candidates endorsed by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility won their Republican primary runoff elections: Ron Wright, Deanna Metzger, Jim Pikl, and J.J. Koch.

Below are unofficial results from races in the region. An asterisk denotes an incumbent. “TFR” indicates a candidate endorsed by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.
