A captain in the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office told Texas Scorecard that a “child predator looks like everybody else.”

Captain Adam Acosta’s comments follow the Montgomery County Constable Precinct 3 Office’s move to file additional charges against a former Woodlands Mall security guard and children’s tennis coach, who now faces the charge of indecency with a child by exposure. The investigation had initially resulted in charges of invasive visual recording.

In April 2024, Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable’s Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant at Taylor Roy’s residence after receiving a cyber tip alleging he had secretly recorded videos of girls.

An investigation by Precinct 3’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)/Human Trafficking Unit uncovered numerous videos Roy had taken of fully clothed girls at public locations, including Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the Woodlands Mall—where he worked—and various local parks. Although the individuals were clothed, the footage often focused inappropriately on genital areas.

Detectives also discovered recordings of underage girls undressing inside the Forever 21 dressing room. In some of these videos, Roy was visible, sometimes even wearing his security guard uniform.

Following the search warrant, detectives interviewed Roy’s wife, Tasha Roy, who admitted to assisting in the recording and creation of the videos. In April 2024, both Taylor and Tasha Roy were charged with invasive visual recording, a felony offense.

Further investigation revealed that Taylor Roy was also employed as a tennis coach working with children aged 8 to 17 in the Woodlands and Spring areas. This raised additional concerns due to his proximity to minors.

Acosta told Texas Scorecard officers see this pattern often. “Whether they choose to seek out that job to put them in contact with children isn’t established, but it’s a common denominator that we do see with people we arrest and build cases on. We’ve put all walks of life in jail for being predators of children, but we see a common denominator with coaches, teachers, [and] clergymen, with access to some type of group of children.”

Taylor Roy was officially charged in December 2024 for indecency with a child by exposure and surrendered to authorities on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

Roy’s bond was set at $30,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court today.

Authorities have confirmed that the investigation remains active and ask anyone who may have been a victim to come forward.

Acosta advised parents to be on the lookout for predators both in public and especially online.

“The one thing that parents can do with internet crimes against children: always, actively, at all times, be involved with their electronic devices or don’t allow them to have it. There’s no reason at all that a 10-, 11-, or 12-year-old child should be on a smartphone with internet access to social media,” Acosta said. “That is what predators use to find and exploit children.”

“Parents should always stay involved in their child’s social media, deny access to certain applications, and be a very nosy parent… and don’t apologize for it. Don’t worry about hurting your child’s feelings when you’re trying to protect them.”
