HOUSTON—In an exclusive interview at a sparsely attended “Good Trouble Lives On” protest, Mandy Giles, founder of Parents of Trans Youth, revealed that non-governmental organizations are assisting in transporting Texas children to New Mexico and other states for “gender-affirming” treatments banned in the Lone Star State.
Giles, speaking to Texas Scorecard, emphasized that these efforts avoid using taxpayer funds to evade any “strings attached.”

Giles described her organization as “the best kept secret in Texas.”
The disclosure highlights ongoing circumvention of Texas laws prohibiting puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and gender mutilating surgeries for minors.
The protest was a nationwide follow-up to the anti-Trump “No Kings” rallies in honor of the late U.S. Rep. John Lewis’ call for “good trouble,” but Houston’s event drew minimal crowds despite organizers’ expectations of 1,000 participants.
