A Round Rock teacher charged with felony sex crimes involving children will serve no jail time after pleading guilty to an “improper” sexual relationship with an underage student.
Domingo Perez Jr. was arrested in August 2024 and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact and possessing 50 or more images or videos of child sexual abuse material.
At the time of his arrest, Perez—also known as Dominic—was a science teacher at Stony Point High School in the Round Rock Independent School District.
A year later, Perez was also charged with improper relationship between educator and student. The crimes date back to April 2023.
The indecency and improper relationship offenses are second-degree felonies punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison. The CSAM charge is a first-degree felony punishable by up to life in prison.
Perez accepted a plea deal in June, pleading guilty to the improper relationship charge.
In exchange, the state dismissed the other two felony charges, and Judge Stacey Mathews of the 277th District Court in Williamson County sentenced Perez to 10 years of deferred adjudication.
If Perez follows the court-ordered terms of his probation, the charge will be dismissed and Perez will not have a permanent criminal record.
As part of his plea agreement, Perez permanently surrendered his Texas teaching certificate. Perez had been certified to teach secondary science for more than 20 years. Online records show he taught in Round Rock ISD for at least 10 years.
Perez is among hundreds of Texas school employees accused of sex crimes involving students and other children in just the past few years.
Thousands of educators have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.
