The Democratic Party’s nominee for U.S. Senate, U.S. Rep. Robert “Beto” O’Rourke, announced plans to open a campaign office in Amarillo later this month. This will be the second office O’Rourke opens in West Texas this summer, after establishing a campaign hub in Lubbock in July.

While the left side of the state has historically been identified as a Republican bastion, the El Paso congressman’s recent focus in the area demonstrates strategic efforts to target and mobilize Democrat and swing voters.
